What to Expect: Our Assessment Process
Regardless of which type of assessment is the best fit for your situation, our process is designed to be thoughtful, transparent, and supportive from the start.
Step 1: Complete an Assessment Pre-Intake Form
You will begin by completing an assessment pre-intake form, or simply contacting our office.
Step 2: Pre-Intake Call
We will arrange a 20 minute call with one of our psychologists. During this call, we will ask you a few questions to get to know your child and family’s needs, tell you about our assessment process, fees, and timing, and answer any questions you may have.
Step 3: Intake Forms & Assessment Booking
We will send you some intake forms to complete, match you with one of our clinicians, and reach out to book dates for all necessary appointments, including interviews and in-person sessions.
Step 4: Completing Rating Scales & Submitting Documentation
We will provide questionnaires/rating scales for parents and your child’s teacher to complete. In addition, we will ask you to provide the documentation you have collected, like your child’s report cards, school documents, and other important reports.
Step 5: Child/Adolescent Assessment Sessions
During these appointments, we will talk with, observe, and get to know your child/adolescent. We will also complete formal testing activities with them and complete an interview to get to know them better. The number of sessions and specific activities completed will vary depending on the type of assessment and areas of concern or question.
Step 6: Feedback Session(s) and Report
After all of the above steps are completed, we will meet with you to discuss the assessment results and recommendations. We may also meet with your child or teenager to share information with them. Finally, we will provide a detailed report that you can choose to share with your child’s school, primary care provider, and/or others working with them.
